Amps scores NZ sales to scoop prize
Amps Fine Wines, of Oundle, Cambs, has been crowned New Zealand Winegrowers' top independent wine merchant of the year, winning two of its team an all-expenses -paid trip to New Zealand.
The prize recognises the diversity of Amp s' Kiwi range and its ideas for in-store promotions.
New Zealand Winegrowers director Warren Adamson said: "We were looking for a merchant that encapsulated the spirit of New Zealand wine -
premium, quality, interesting, innovative, green. "
Owner Philip Amps said: "It is a great competition that every independent I have spoken to wants to win, so we are highly honoured. We saw a real uplift in our sales during the promotion, and then each month since our sales of New Zealand wines have been well up on last year's figures."
Adnams of Southwold, Flagship Wines in St Albans, John Scott & Miller in Kirkwall and Noble Green Wines in Hampton Hill, Middx,
each won a runner-up weekend for two in London.
