Adnams to be exclusive stockist of Monty's second vintage
Adnams' Cellar & Kitchen will exclusively sell the second vintage of a biodynamic red wine made by
wine writer Monty Waldin in last year's Channel 4 TV series Chateau Monty.
The programme followed the author in his bid to produce an affordable wine, using biodynamic methods, within 18 months of renting a vineyard in the Roussillon region of the French Pyr én ées.
Monty's Red is produced mainly from old vine Carignan, with 5% Syrah and a touch of Grenache and Maccabeu. It
has "hints of thyme, wild herbs and rustic black fruits" and will be available from the end of April (rrp £8.99).
The retailer will also stock the first vintage of Waldin's white and rosé wines.
Monty's White is a
Maccabeu
and Monty's Pink is a
Syrah
(rrp £8.99.)
Waldin said: "My French white is quite Burgundian - crisp, mineral, bodied, saline, and you don't normally say that about Maccabeu."
