Champagne-like beer hits shelves
Infinium is a new “Champagne-like” beer which has come from a two-year collaboration between Jim Koch, founder of US specialist brewer Samuel Adams, and Josef Schrädler, managing director of Germany’s Weihenstephan Brewery.
A statement from the breweries said the 10.3% abv beer would be available for a limited time only to “selected outlets for consumers prepared to pay vintage Champagne prices”. It claims to be the first of its kind to reach this high abv while adhering to the standards of the Reinheitsgebot. The price is estimated to be “well above the £15 mark” per 75cl cork-finished bottle, according to Gray Olliver of distributor Branded Drinks, which is exclusively importing the beer.
