To Øl's Gose To Hollywood launches in M&S
Gose to Hollywood beer, by Denmark’sTo Øl brewery, is being rolled out nationally in Marks & Spencer stores.
Gose to Hollywood is described as “a staple favourite of craft beer fans worldwide” and is believed to be a beer which helped To Øl establish itself as a regular fixture in the ‘Top 40’ RateBeer end of year polls.
The beer (rsp: £3.50) is now available as part of the new Marks & Spencer 44cl craft beer range, marking its first national UK listing with a premium grocery retailer.
The 3.8% abv beer, which is brewed with oranges, has also been revamped with a more defined orange accent, balanced with the crisp and “refreshingly peppery” back notes of the classic Gose style.
The brewery’s home, To Øl City, is based in the village of Svinnenge, an hour’s drive west of Copenhagen. It has “top of the range” brewhouse technology, packaging lines and cold storage facilities, and as a consequence other brands have moved in. This means a diverse range of drinks is now being produced in To Øl City including beer, cider, spirits, cocktails and kombucha. They are even fermenting vinegar and potatoes.
To Øl, which translates as ‘Two Beers’, initially came about as a student brewing project back in 2005, after Tore Gynther and Tobias Emil Jensen had a discussion on the merits of big brewers (or the lack of) with their college teacher, Mikkel Borg Bjergsø. The teacher famously went on to set up Mikkeller and the students soon followed in his footsteps, founding To Øl in 2010.
