Glenlivet releases Spectra trio of mystery malts
Pernod Ricard’s Glenlivet single malt Scotch is launching a limited-edition set of three whiskies linked to a “gamified” online tasting programme.
Spectra comprises three 20cl bottles of whisky that are reinterpretations of Glenlivet’s smooth and fruity house style but supplied without age and cask information or tasting notes.
The aim is to allow purchasers to explore each whisky through cryptic hints in the online tastings without any preconceived notions of what to expect.
At the end of each tasting, purchasers are given a scorecard showing how close they are to decoding each of the three single malts.
The full tasting notes and product information will be released later in the year.
Alan Winchester, Glenlivet master distiller, said: “Stretching our signature house style into three different single malt whiskies that work together as a collection was a unique challenge.
“Given the mysterious nature of Spectra, we aimed to ensure each flavour was distinct and recognisable.”
Spectra comes in a box with three compartments housing each of the whiskies, with the design featuring subtle nods to the flavour profile of the bottle in each one.
Spectra is priced at £105 for three 20cl bottles and is being listed by Master of Malt.
