Salcombe Gin plans crowdsourced charity gin via Instagram
Salcombe Gin, the spirits company based in South Devon, is creating the world’s first crowdsourced limited-edition charity gin via Instagram Live.
While the UK is practising self-isolation, Salcombe Gin is spreading the community spirit and calling gin lovers to join master distiller, Jason Nickels live this evening at 7pm to co-create the brand’s first-ever crowdsourced gin.
During the live event, Nickels will go through the distillation process and share insights on how to create a balanced and harmonious gin.
The public, who will be spending the upcoming weeks looking for creative ways to have fun at home, can tune into @Salcombegin and interact with Nickels through Instagram Live to choose their favourite botanicals and vote on the final recipe for the spirit.
Viewers will also be invited to name the new gin, which will be available to pre-order in 50cl bottles for £37.50 via salcombegin.com following the event.
In an effort to support the NHS, the spirit brand will be donating all profits from sales of the new gin to the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal, the official NHS fund dedicated to supporting staff and volunteers who are working to care for Covid-19 patients.
Nickels, said: “It is vital that while we are all faced with these uncertain times that we stay connected and continue to lift each other’s spirits. With this live distillation we want people to get together and have some fun while also creating a great tasting new gin, which can be enjoyed at home.
“We have received an incredible response to our complimentary hand sanitiser for the health care and public services and it is important to us that we continue to support the amazing staff and volunteers who are working tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, we will be donating all profits from this limited-edition release to the NHS Charities Together Urgent Appeal, which is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of NHS staff and volunteers.”
The new gin will be available for free home delivery and can be pre-ordered via www.salcombegin.com/shop for £37.50 from today (April 9). All profits will be donated to NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal.
