Auchentoshan releases Sauvignon-finish malt

Edrington-Beam Suntory UK has launched a Sauvignon Blanc finish of its Auchentoshan malt whisky brand.

The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon casks before spending some time in Sauvignon Blanc barriques.

The producer is positioning it as a whisky that is best served chilled to accentuate citrus and apple flavour notes.

Eileen Livingston, senior director of Scotch whisky for the company, said: “Auchentoshan Sauvignon Blanc is a unique innovation that disrupts the category and provides consumers with a drinking experience out of the norm.

“This enables us to connect with urban millennials who are looking to sample new expressions and shared experiences.”

Auchentoshan master blender Ron Welsh added: “We set out to create a never seen before whisky.

“Auchentoshan Sauvignon Blanc was crafted to be enjoyed chilled, allowing us to innovate on the key occasions when the product is shared.”

The 47% abv whisky is being launched as an Amazon exclusive with a pre-order price of £50 a bottle.
