Bordeaux generic names new president
Bordeaux generic body CIVB has elected winegrower Bernard Farges as its new president to replace the outgoing Allan Sichel.
Farges is no stranger to the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux, as he chaired the organisation between 2013 and 2016. He has also served as chairman at the Union of AOC Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur wines.
He runs a winery in in Mauriac in the Entre-deux-Mers region of Gironde along with his brother and nephew.
Farges will hold the position until 2022. The priority during my term will be implementing the trade’s strategic plan, Bordeaux Ambition 2025: the commitment to a collective CSR approach, guiding the trade economically, and reinforcing the Bordeaux brand, by going and showing all the markets, whether near or far, the diversity of the men and women who make Bordeaux what it is, like the diversity of our wines,” he said. “The human factor has to be at the heart of our actions.”
