Chapel Down reports sales grew 10% in 2018
Chapel Down saw sales for its full portfolio of products grow by 10% to £13 million in 2018, driven in particular by its wines and spirits.
The producer said gross profit for its wines and spirits grew 12% in 2018 to £3.6million, while gross profit for its beer and ciders (under the Curious Drinks brand) grew 1% to £1.2million.
Alongside this the producer planted 102 acres of new vineyards in Kent, and it completed the build of its new brewery, which has opened its doors to the public this month.
It has secured a lease on a further 388 acres of viticultural land and it also has a lease at a site in King’s Cross where it opened the Chapel Down Gin Works.
The company also recorded an “extraordinary harvest” last year, which is double its highest-ever harvest and is “excellent quality”.
