Spanish distiller Santamanía seals UK distribution deal

Spanish distiller Santamanía has appointed Boutique Bar Brands to handle its UK sales and marketing.

The deal includes Santamanía grape gins and vodka, Lola & Vera apple and berry gins, Mentidero and Cabeza de Vaca rums and 3 Zetas, a range of ready-to-serve cocktails including Negroni and Dry Martini.

Santamanía hopes to increase its sales by 300% over the next three years as a result of the deal.

Chief executive Javier Domínguez said: “The UK represents a great challenge and a demanding market for Santamanía.

“Last summer we successfully raised over £1 million in crowdfunding in the UK, proving we have many fans of our spirits already here in the market.

“We have invested it wisely including new stills, Alba and Pepa, new casks and a new bottling line to increase our capacity, as well as enhance our innovation capabilities.

“The next step was always to the find the right partner to access and penetrate the UK market, which is essential to our success.

“We believe that Boutique Bar Brands suits the philosophy of Santamanía perfectly and we are confident in its ability to reflect our values to its final customers.

“Our brands need the same passion in promotion as is used in the making of them.

Madrid-based Santamanía was founded by Domínguez in 2014.

Boutique Bar Brands’ portfolio also includes Ireland’s Dingle Distillery, Verdant gin and the birch sap spirit Freya.
