Thornbridge and Waitrose relaunch home brew challenge
Thornbridge Brewery has resurrected its partnership with Waitrose and Brew UK to launch The Great British Home Brew Challenge for 2017.
The competition, which is calling on consumers via the strapline “your chance to join the craft beer revolution”, asks for all beer entries to be submitted by 31 July, 2017. Beers need to be submitted in bottles with crown caps.
The brewer whose beer is chosen by Waitrose for national distribution will be asked to give their beer recipe to Thornbridge, and the winner will also be invited to the Thornbridge brewery site for the inagural brew.
The judging will take place on 24 August 2017 and will be carried out by a panel of brewers, beer writers and beer industry experts.
The winner will receive £250 and will have their beer brewed by Thornbridge and sold in a selection of Waitrose stores.
Previous year’s winners have included Graham Nelson, who created a 5.9% abv Vienna IPA; Will Alston, who made a 5% abv Rhubarbe de Saison; and Phil Sisson, whose Raindrops on Roses (a 5.3% abv Belgian Wit with rose petals), secured the top spot last year.
