Boutinot introduces Provence producer to the UK
Boutinot has signed Provence producer Château Gairoird to its portfolio, replacing Château Moutête, which was sold to Domaine Ott in 2014.
Château Gairoird produces organic wines on its 45 hectare domaine in the Cotes de Provence AOC. Current owner, Olivier Pierrefeu, is the fourth generation of vignerons and has worked with Boutinot’s French wine buyer Sally Holloway on the 2015 Rosé cuvée, which will be available to the UK off and on-trade priced around £11.99.
Holloway said: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Olivier, a quiet and thoughtful winemaker; he has been looking for a partner to help him establish a reputation for his estate wines, which we will bring to the UK for the first time.
“He grows numerous Provence cépages including Grenache, Cinsault, Rolle, Syrah and Tibouren on typical Provence terroir - chalky-clay soil dotted with galets - that is perfect for classic Provence rosé.”
