Bristol brew named SIBA champion
Bristol Beer Factory’s American pale ale Independence has been named supreme champion bottled beer in the Society of Independent Brewers’ National Beer Competition.
The beer was chosen alongside keg supreme champion Fuller’s London Porter and cask winner OSM from Cotswold Spring Brewery from around 300 finalists, by a panel of some 100 brewers, industry experts, publicans and enthusiasts.
The winners were announced at SIBA’s Beer X festival in Sheffield.
Chief executive Julian Grocock said: “For many of our finalists, the Beer X festival is a unique opportunity to put their brews in front of new drinkers outside their heartland. Helping our members to expand distribution of their beers has always been one of SIBA’s key goals and we hope that Beer X results in additional sales for many of them.”
