Fuller's launches 2013 Vintage Ale
Fuller’s has launched its 2013 bottle-conditioned Vintage Ale.
It is the 17th edition in the range and is brewed to 8.5% abv from floor-malted Pearl winter barley, and seasoned with spicy Admiral and fruity Sovereign hops.
The limited edition brew is available from Fuller’s Brewery Shop in Chiswick as well as Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Booths.
Head brewer John Keeling said: “The early tasting notes for this rich brew are already revealing another genuinely tantalising vintage beer.
“As a truly distinguished bottle-conditioned ale, each vintage improves in the bottle with time. Bottle conditioning means that a little yeast is left in the bottle, which will mature slowly over the years like a fine wine or whisky – well beyond the ‘best before’ date that we are obliged to state. We think it should read ‘best after’.
“I suggest buying a few and trying one now, trying one in five years and trying one in 10 years, to see how the flavours have developed and matured.”
