Specialist Brand Development is launching strawberry beer Früli into the off-trade. The distributor has signed a deal with Tesco that will see the 4.1 per cent Belgian white beer with 30 per cent strawberry juice go into stores this month. It is also in talks with other retailers. Suffolk brewer Adnams has won an award from environmental organisation the Carbon Trust for its innovations in reducing its carbon footprint - such as reductions in beer bottle weight, building a low carbon distribution centre and using energy-efficient manufacturing processes.

In the latest round of Czech brewer Budweiser Budvar's 100-year-old legal battle against US Budweiser brewer Anheuser-Busch, the European Community Trademark Office has rejected A-B's application to register its Budweiser trademark in all EU countries, which could have damaged Budvar's trademark in its European heartland. Seventeen disputes between the two breweries still remain unresolved.

Greene King has invested £4.5 million in a new depot in Nottinghamshire to meet growing demand for its beers in the Midlands and the north.

Lincolnshire brewer Batemans says it saw bottled beer sales grow 24 per cent in 2006 and is on track for a similar rise in 2007 thanks to a new livery, growing consumer awareness and a promotion with Marks & Spencer .
