Drinks charity plans day of fundraising
The Benevolent, the charity which supports wine and spirit industry workers who have fallen on hard times, is planning an annual fundraising day to complement its existing events.
The Benevolent Day will take place on Friday, June 5. People in the drinks trade are being asked to come up with fundraising initiatives, which could be as basic as a simple collection. Other suggestions include coffee mornings, wine tastings or sporting activities.
Benevolent chairman Simon Leschallas said: “I urge the trade to get involved for this great day. A small donation will go a long way if we can get the majority of the drinks industry raising money for the Benevolent. I really do believe that every company that works in the trade should take part and make the Benevolent Day an exciting annual event.”
The Benevolent has issued an information and fundraising pack, and Benevolent Day badges will also be available. Call 020 7089 3888 for details.
The Benevolent was founded in 1886 and now helps more than 500 people from across the industry, providing one-off or regular financial grants, sheltered accommodation, care home facilities and other assistance.
