Cains may be rescued by former owners
Reports from Liverpool suggest the Dusanj brothers, who were forced to place Cains into administration in August, are in negotiations to buy back the brewing business.
Adminstrator PriceWaterhouseCoopers has been attempting to find a buyer for the business, but potential investors would have to pay rent to Ajmail and Sudarghara Dusanj, who still own the brewery building – a factor which makes the deal more complicated.
Now it has emerged that the brothers may be favourites to buy the brewing and pub company, and have been described by a former potential bidder as “the only act in town” despite interest from 50-plus would-be investors.
A PwC spokeswoman said: “Administrators handling Cains are at an advanced stage of a potential sale of the business. There could be an announcement towards the end of next week.”
