Hayman's introduces "biggest innovation in gin for 100 years"
Hayman’s has launched a Small Gin, which it said will allow consumers to enjoy “a real gin & tonic with just 0.2 units of alcohol and 15 calories per serve”.
Small Gin, which is described as being rich in botanical character, is distilled using a traditional approach and natural botanicals.
The producer said the 43% abv gin is so full flavoured that just one 5ml thimbleful is needed to mix a classic Gin & Tonic, reducing the alcohol in a standard G&T by 80%.
The drink is not arriving until August but it is available to pre-order at £26 a 20cl bottle.
Co-owner, Miranda Hayman, said: “Throughout the original gin boom of the 18th century, those who enjoyed gin were typically drinking it mainly for the alcohol – with juniper, and other botanicals added primarily to make the spirit more palatable. In today’s 21st Century gin boom the situation has reversed.
"Many consumers are actively looking to reduce their alcohol consumption but are keen to continue enjoying that classic gin flavour they have grown to love. Small Gin is the perfect solution – a real gin that allows you to mix a true G&T with just a fraction of the alcohol.
“The 5ml measuring thimble makes it easy for anyone to mix a perfect Small Gin & Tonic at home. It is a beautiful piece that is a great addition to any home bar, and of course the thimble itself is something of a symbol of Victorian England.”
