Tesco and Asda launch rival 25% off wine offers
Tesco and Asda are going head-to-head with 25% off wine offers in a bid to drive footfall during the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.
Both retailers are knocking a quarter off the price of various still and sparkling wines before August 27, providing shoppers buy six bottles.
Asda’s offer includes the IWSC gold medal winning Orbitali Amarone Della Valpolicella, which retails for £16, and Möet & Chandon rosé.
Buyer April Rogers said: “We know our customers love a bargain – at Asda we want to help them enjoy excellent quality wines for less with this great deal.
“With over 500 different wines included in the promotion, our customers can stock up on their old favourites or sip their way through some new tipples – or do both by mixing and matching. There’s something for every taste.”
The promotion applies to 500 SKUs in total. A selection of six bottles of Wolf Blass and Blossom Hill, including two whites, two reds and two rosés, costs £23.97, less than £4 a bottle. Six bottles of Wolf Blass Red Label Shiraz cost £22.50, equivalent to £3.75 a bottle.
Tesco’s identical offer covers 380 wines and the retailer is allowing shoppers to mix and match on bundles of six wines. It is an online exclusive and it also includes wines that are already on promotion.
The days of half-price offers are largely behind us, but it often knocks a pound or two off the price of popular lines. Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay is currently down from £8 to £7, and consumers can buy six and enjoy a 25% discount, bringing the price down to £5.25 per bottle.
