Vins de Bordeaux launches educational tastings for the wine trade
Vins de Bordeaux is launching Bordeaux Today, a series of education tastings for wine trade professionals. The news follows the recent announcement of a full month dedicated to Bordeaux wines in the UK.
The Bordeaux Today activity will kick off of May 14th from 3-5pm at pizzeria, Homeslice, to offer a “relaxed and informal environment” for wine professionals to learn about the diversity of Bordeaux wines.
Tutors from L’Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux, the CIVB’s Bordeaux wine school, will host the two-hour sessions in London, Liverpool and Edinburgh throughout the Spring. Each event will include a food and wine tasting session with the first session linking wines to innovative pizza toppings.
The sessions will provide an “accessible introduction point” to Bordeaux, covering its wines, history, different appellations and points of difference with other wine regions. They will also highlight how different wines styles pair with popular contemporary cuisines.
The sessions will also provide an interactive demonstration of the new OenoBordeaux app, launched by Vins de Bordeaux’s L’Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux late last year.
The news follows the announcement earlier this month that Vins de Bordeaux had announced its first ever Bordeaux Wine Month, which will launch this June.
For this initiative, independent retailers are encouraged to participate by hosting high visibility promotions - including at least three tastings - across a minimum of two weeks during June. In exchange they will receive a comprehensive kit of publicity and POS materials, including posters, postcards, leaflets and corkscrews, as well as £200.
Fiona Juby, UK market consultant for Vins de Bordeaux, said: “Bordeaux Wines have been enjoying strong growth over the past 12 months and Bordeaux Wine Month is a fantastic way for independent retailers to get involved with Bordeaux and build on that positive momentum. Bordeaux offers such a huge range of affordable wine styles, including classic red blends to crisp whites and delicious, pink roses that are perfect for summer. Bordeaux really does offer something to suit everyone, whatever the budget or occasion.”
