California wine industry to descend on Westminster Abbey for trade tasting
Six hundred Californian wines will be poured for the trade at the Dream Big California Wine Fair in London on September 27.
The event will start at 10.30am and run until 5pm at Westminter Abbey’s College Garden and is designed to be “a haven of Californian hospitality, innovative winemaking and world class wines”.
Justin Knock MW, director at the UK branch of the California Wine Institute, said: “It’s such a thrill for me to welcome members of the trade to Dream Big, the most exciting Californian wine fair ever staged in the UK.
“Guests will have the chance to try some 600 wines, including some of the classics, some great value wines from regions such as Santa Barbara and Lodi, novel varieties which demonstrate California’s diversity, as well as wines that will be new to many of us.
“Dream Big California is about more than simply wine alone. Through our partnership with Visit California we are creating a multi-sensory experience, bringing the sights, sounds and smells of the Golden State into the heart of London. So, make sure you leave yourself time not just to try the wines, but to also enjoy a taste of California too.”
Highlights on the day include a free pour tasting of wines showing the “other side of California” and a bubbles bar.
Seminars on Napa Valley and Coastal Wines will also take place, hosted by Kelli White and Karen MacNeil respectively.
A food and wine matching event will take place from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
Producers at the fair that are seeking UK representation include East West Wine Trading; Foley Family Wines; Global Wine; Jordan Vineyard and Winery; Justin & Landmark Vineyards; Purple Wine & Spirits; and Rombauer.
