Sainsbury's taps into Northern Ireland's flourishing craft beer trend
Published:  13 June, 2017

Sainsbury’s has bolstered its craft beer and cider offering across its Northern Ireland estate by introducing 28 new lines from a range of small producers.

The new drinks include three exclusives and have been sourced from six suppliers in Northern Ireland, including Mourne Mountains Brewery, Hilden Brewery and Armagh Cider Company.

The retailer said it has been working hard to grow their supply base in Northern Ireland and extend the range as the craft beer movement continues to flourish.

Regional buyer Claire McAlinney said: “Small-batch produced beer and cider is having a real renaissance in Northern Ireland at the moment and it’s been great working with so many of these skilled producers to bring locally made craft beers and ciders to Sainsbury’s customers in Northern Ireland.”

Sainsbury’s now works with seven Northern Irish breweries, cider producers and distillers, all of whom have launched new products with the retailer as part of its expanded offering.

The range launches this week, and brings the number of locally-made beer, cider and spirits SKUs up to 40 at Sainsbury’s Northern Ireland stores.

The new drinks include pilsners, gluten-free Lagers, IPAs, blonde ales and stouts, and come from Whitewater, Hercules, Hilden, Mourne, Armagh Cider Company, McGraths and Foxes Rock.
