Sparkling canned cocktail range to launch in Morrisons
HappyDown, described as “the UK’s first crafted sparkling cocktails in cans” will launch in Morrisons stores next month.
The range of sparkling cocktails come in three flavour combinations: Lychee & Guava infused with Chilli; Lemon & Cucumber infused with Mint; and Raspberry & Pomegranate infused with Basil.
The drinks contain natural flavourings, zero preservatives and are gluten-free and contain just 44 calories per 100ml. Each variant is 4% abv and the alcoholic component is fortified wine.
HappyDown is the brainchild of Paritosh Bhandari and Vishal Mair, the founders of Tipple Brands. They have been developing the product since 2015, working with flavour houses, mixologists and consumers to find the best flavour combinations.
Paritosh said: “Back in 2012 there was a paradigm shift happening towards ‘better, crafted products’ within both the drinks and the food space. Craft beers were sweeting the world of beers and the craft movement was beginning to take wings in the spirits space. But when you looked at the premix/ ready-to-drink category, the consumers were still grappling with synthetic tasting, weirdly coloured sugary drinks. As a result they started moving to other categories like flavoured ciders or craft beers. Our fundamental aim was to liberate drinkers from the ordinary and the artificial and offer them something far more natural tasting, refreshing and exciting – all done in a very craft manner.”
The brand has an rsp of £2.20 per 33cl can and the range will initially be available in select Morrisons stores nationwide.
