Big Hug rebrands ahead of major 2016 push
The re-branded Big Hug Brewing has redesigned its packaging in preparation for major expansion in the coming months.
Its beers will be available at the Solomon’s Yard winter pop-up in Camden, and will be launching in Greene King’s 1,600-strong estate in the new year.
The company, which launched in 2014 as Bear Hug, is already trading with Punch Taverns and is now available nationally through leading on-trade distributor Matthew Clark.
Regional distributors already include Nectar Imports, HT White, Pigs Ears, Euroboozer and Dunns.
In the off-trade, Big Hug has won listings at selected Wine Rack and Whole Food stores, as well as independents such as Borough Wines and Hop Burns Black.
Big Hug’s three 330ml bottled beers – Hibernation White IPA, Spirit Pale Ale and Himalayan Red Rye Ale – have been brought together in a range named ‘The Bears’, in a nod to the company’s original name.
Hibernation is also available in a 330ml brushed metal can. The brewery’s Slow Loris All-Day IPA will follow suit next year. Big Hug’s fifth beer, Bruno Pilsner, is currently on-trade only.

“Big Hug Brewing came together out of a love of great beer and brands, both past and present. We decided to give Big Hug the name to represent that warm fuzzy feeling from your first beer with friends.
“It’s personal to us because that’s how we greet each other. We simply wanted to extend that feeling and create a range that was accessible and varied that would appeal to a wide demographic as more people start to enjoy craft beer.”
