Mateus quits flask shape for new blends
Mateus is moving away from its distinctive flask-shaped bottle with the launch of a new dual varietal wine range.
Portugal’s biggest brand is set to launch four wines in the Mateus Expressions range: white Maria Gomes/Chardonnay and three rosé blends – Baga/Shiraz, Baga/Muscat and Aragonez/Zinfandel.
The wines are to retail for £7.99 and will be launched in the UK before rolling out around the world.
Anthony Habert, marketing manager at distributor Stevens Garnier, said: “Mateus is proud to be launching this year a range of four different bi-varietal white and rosé wines, which combine indigenous and international varieties, with the aim of providing consumers with the reassurance of a household brand name and the familiarity of international varietals in order to present wines from Portugal in a contemporary and relevant way.”
The wines are to be released at the Wines of Portugal annual tasting on March 5 at London’s Royal Horticultural Halls.
