Champagne GH Mumm has launched its prestige cuvée, Cuvée R Lalou. The first vintage - 1998 - will be on the UK market from September, on allocation only, to selected independent retailers and the on-trade with an rrp of £100. The Champagne is "produced in very small quantities, and only in the best years, sourced from up to 12 of the very best parcels" from Grand Cru villages, according to Mumm. The 1998 vintage is a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, named after René Lalou, chairman of the House from 1939 until his death in 1973.

A French wine is helping its drinkers to find love by linking them to a dating website. Soif de Coeur, produced by Omnivins, features details of the website and a unique code on the label that users tap in to sign up. Launched in France in March, Omnivins is hoping to bring the wine and the website, created by Imaginform, to the UK after showing it at Vinexpo in Bordeaux. The Vins de Pays d'Atlantique wine is available in three styles: a Merlot/Cabernet, Cabernet/Merlot rosé and Sauvignon/Semillon and has blue packaging for men and pink for women.
